Here's a couple of pics from his graduation last month in Kentucky.  He'll be home Friday evening until he gets deployed.  He's trying to go from the National Guard to the regular Army.  I'll keep you posted if he ships out.  It will be nice if he's home for the holidays though.

Hello, I finally got an email from my neice.  Her son, Robert left last week for Kuwait.  He will be there until mid October and then goes to Iraq, unknown where.  He is with the 101st Airborne as a medic.

She said he hadn't sent her an address yet, and as soon as she has it will forward it to me.

As with all the mothers, she wanted to thank everyone for adding him to the writing and prayer list.

So as soon as I have his address I'll post it.

Barb

Barb-Sorry I missed your post. Be sure to let us know Robert's address. I feel bad for him already. As a medic I can only imagine what he'll see...sigh.

My neice sent me her son's address.  He is stationed at Camp Striker near Bagdad.  She said he spends one week at camp and two weeks out in the field as a medic.

I would appreciate your prayers and thoughts for him and if you would like to send him a card, that will be appreciated too.

SPC Smith, Robert J. (medic)
1st PLT, C-CO, 1 -187 IN
3rd BCT, 101st ABN DIV

Thanks.

Barb-Did your nephew happen to get the postcards I sent on behalf of all of us at the bar? Just didn't want you to think I forgot, that's why I ask.

GG, I just saw this.  Sorry I didn't answer before.

I really don't know.  I have sent him cards and letters and haven't heard from him.  I asked my sister-in-law but she said he didn't say anything.  I guess he doesn't write to her (his grandmother) and not that good at writing to his own mother.

I'm sure he has received them.  But just hasn't responded.

He was home on leave for three weeks in September and was going to Texas and then would go back.  I know my sister-in-law was disappointed because he didn't come see them.  His parents went to Texas to see him.

He was married just before he went over to Iraq and I think he wanted to spend time with his bride when he did come back and I can't say that I blame him.  I remember when Harold was in the Navy and would be gone for months.  We wanted to spend time together when he did come home.

I'll see if I can find out for sure.

Barb

Barb-You don't have to check, it's okay. I just didn't want you think I was all talk and no action. I'm glad Bob got a break from the war, and, of course, he'd want to spend time with his bride. lol
I am sorry he had to go back, but it seems that's the way it is for so many of our soldiers. Come home, go back and fight some more. And so it goes...
