GG, I have a friend in California who brought my attention to this site. She'd have a whole houseful of pets if she could get away it. She saved a cat after it fell from the roof and into the firplace. The same cat then got stuck in a wall. She then heard this cat meowing and made her way into the attic and saved this cat again that was stuck in the wall and could not get out.
This cat lived next door to her. She said that when the owners packed up to move away, this cat was there on the driveway and meowed after his owners when they drove away. It made her cry as it did me and this is when we ended up with Tigger. He is a good cat, a bit slow, but very loving. We still have this wonderful cat that follows us around inside and outside.

Vickie-I posted that site awhile back, and even I forget to go click, but I thought as long as I saw it I might as well bring it to everyones attention. I think they're all a good causes.
I like that story about your friend, and I especially like the happy ending. If more people would adopt animals, and not buy expensive bred dogs, and spay and neuter, well, need I say more?
